THE World Music Institute of New York City is recognizing the 25th anniversary of the National Heritage Award winners for folk arts in America with a series of concerts all year. Of interest to readers of this column would be the upcoming "A World of Fiddles" concert that will feature Kevin Burke, one of the finest fiddlers in the Irish tradition who was selected in 2002 for his outstanding achievements in this country, and also Joe Cormier (1984), one of the foremost French Canadian and Cape Breton fiddlers who has made Massachusetts his home like many Cape Bretoners.

The concert takes place in Manhattan on Saturday, October 13 at 8 p.m. at Peter Norton Theater at Symphony Space, Broadway at 95th Street. Tickets can be ordered through 212-864-5400 or visit www.worldmusicinstitute.org.

The WMI will also host "Ireland in America" with winners Mick Moloney (1999), Liz Carroll (1994) with John Doyle, Joe Derrane (2004) and Donny Golden (1995) at the Skirball Center at NYU in Greenwich Village on November 30, but more on that as the date draws near . . .

I KNOW there are a few of you who get a groove on in the Celtic rock scene so you may want to saunter down to Ulysses (95 Pearl Street, New York, 212-482-0400) on Sunday, October 7 for the second Fleming's reunion led by singer Sean Fleming, who owned and ran the unique underground Yorktown establishment on 86th Street for 12 years until it closed in 1995.

Seamus Kelleher, Fleming's bandmate, will be joining in the fun with many others who want to trip the night nostalgic starting around 7 p.m. . . .

FOR those of you waiting with baited breath for the resumption of the Ull Mor CCE branch Sunday session, take heart as the series is opening this coming Sunday at Mustang Harry's (352 Seventh Avenue between 29-30th Streets in New York) in the upstairs party room. The session will run from 5-8 p.m. on Sundays, and leading off an impressive lineup of New York talent as session catalysts are Margie Mulvihill and John Reynolds this Sunday, October 7 followed by John Nolan (October 14 and November 4); Joanie Madden (October 21); Tony Demarco (October 28); Paddy Furlong (November 18).

Like most sessions, admission is free and you are encouraged to bring along your instruments, dancing shoes or voice and food and drink are readily available as well.
