Is Colin Farrell's new arm candy Emma Forrest pregnant? Is she mentally ill? Do you even care? If so, let's see what we can figure out. The trusty tabloids are reporting that Forrest, a British novelist based in Los Angeles, was spotted with her man in a Hollywood drug store over the weekend buying an early pregnancy test kit. Fuzzy pictures of the couple in a Rite Aid surfaced on the Internet; one site even claimed that they left the receipt of their purchase behind, one EPT stick test priced at $13.99, plus tax. Geez, don't people like Colin have assistants who can do this kind of shopping for him? But according to the gossip, he's in love. "In the past, Colin has gone for stereotypical movie star girlfriends but Emma has offered him something completely different," said a source. Emma, 30, certainly is different - she's an accomplished writer and novelist who's been widely published, and she's been quite frank about her battles with mental illness, including a bout of self-mutilation. Writing earlier this year in The Guardian newspaper in England, she said, "By the end of 2000, I was self mutilating a few times a week and having four scaldingly hot baths a day, trying to feel something and trying to make the hours pass . . . Cutting always came like a fever, so I'd be looking at my arm or my thigh or my stomach, a surprised spectator. When, eventually, I tried to kill myself, my suicide note wasn't anything to do with despair; I was mentally divergent, sleepless from mania." She eventually was hospitalized in LA, and her parents brought her back to England for treatment. Now she's leading a productive life, with Colin on her arm. "I accept that I will be on medicine for the rest of my life and I have no problem with that because the quality of my life is so vastly improved. And, far from dimming my creativity, medicine has only helped," she revealed.
