With "Wicked" fever sweeping the globe, it’s understandable that fans of the film are already counting down the days until the highly anticipated part 2.
Speculation has begun surrounding pivotal casting for the continuation of the beloved movie musical, with many eager to see how the film will differ from the stage production.
One casting in particular has caught the attention of fans online, with many speculating an Irish actress could be playing an iconic character.

Fans of the original musical will know that Dorothy makes a blip-like cameo in the original stage production, however everyone is wondering if the role will be expanded in part 2?
Those who are familiar with the original "Wizard of Oz" tale will know that Dorothy is a young girl from Kansas who is transported to Oz via a cyclone with her sweet pup Toto.
In the iconic tale, the youngster is advised to take the yellow brick road to the City of Emeralds to see the Great Wizard Oz, with a number of characters featured in "Wicked" aiding her on her journey.
Broadway vs Film
In the Broadway show, Dorothy just appears as a silhouette, she’s featured toward the end of the musical when she encounters Elphaba and "melts" her with a bucket of water.
However, with the decision to split the musical into two films, director John Chu has been able to expand on the original story, giving some characters more air time.
This has gotten fans thinking, will Dorothy play an important role in part 2? And if so, who will play her?
During a recent chat with Variety, John addressed the pressing Dorothy question, saying; "I won’t say whether she’s a character, necessarily, in movie two.
"There’s a part of me that wants everyone’s Dorothy to be the whatever Dorothy they want. And yet, there is interaction and some crossover. So I’ll leave that up to Part Two."
The Emerald Isle meets The Emerald City
Now it seems a rising Irish star could be on the cards to play the Kansas native, with fans speculating across social media.
A fan on Twitter shared photos of Alisha Weir, the 15-year-old star of "Abigail," posing at the "Wicked" premiere and wrote: "STREETS SAYING ABIGAIL PLAYING DOROTHY IN WICKED PART 2?????"

This has ignited a spark among fans of the musical, with many branding her the perfect choice for the iconic role.
Alisha is best known for taking on another beloved childhood character, starring in the new Hollywood version of "Matilda The Musical."
She has since left her mark on Hollywood, having featured as the youngest person on the 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Europe.
