WHAT'S left to say about Amy Winehouse, the amazingly talented British soul singer who prefers to throw her life away by abusing whatever kind of drugs she can get her hands on?
Well, Amy got her act together enough to hop a short flight over to Ireland, where she performed at the annual Oxegen open-air festival at Punchestown, Co. Kildare on Saturday afternoon in front of thousands of admiring fans. Apparently she was on her best behavior - a rarity in Wino's Wacky World these days - and even performed the following day at a similar event in Scotland.
"Winehouse, who is as much a feature of the tabloid press as she is of the music charts nowadays, put her well-documented troubles behind her with a set which showcased her talents both as a singer and songwriter," wrote the reviewer for The Irish Times.
Her time in Ireland on Saturday was short -- like, less than three hours from start to finish. She arrived at Dublin Airport just after 6 p.m., where a police escort was waiting to whisk her entourage out to Punchestown.
In the back of her van she had her hair and make-up arranged, then she stepped on stage for her 50 minute performance. Immediately afterward her transport took her back to Dublin, and she was up, up and away, back to tabloid hell in London.
