Zooey Dechanel has been tipped for a role in the new “Spider-Man” movie.

The actress is being pursued by the film's director Marc Webber who believes she "fits the bill" of character Betty Brant, who is a sexy secretary.

A source said: "Betty was a minor character in the previous movies but Marc has big plans for her.

"He wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey fits the bill perfectly. The role is hers if she wants it."

The new movie will feature several big names including Sally Field, Rhys Ifans, Emma Stone and Tobey Maguire will be returning for the role of Spider-man.

The 30-year-old actress has starred in a number of successful films including “500 Days of Summer”, “Elf”, and “Yes Man”.

A talented singer, she also regularly performs with her band She & Him.
