What could make a summer day better than a relaxing stroll along the Irish seafront? Grabbing a tempting and delicious fish and chips on your way home!

A new study from Betway has revealed the top Irish fish and chip shops near the sea, with a family-run Dingle chippy earning first place and a Galway favorite following close behind.

Betway researchers measured the popularity of each location with a unique index score based on the number of hashtags and views each location has racked up on Instagram, as well as Trip Advisor rankings - with the lower the overall index score the higher the ranking.

The Fish Box in Dingle, Co Kerry was crowned the winner, as the best chippy by the sea. Bringing the best and freshest seafood you could want, the family-run chip shop was deserving of the honor. Located in the heart of Dingle, this spot is loved by locals and tourists alike.

Galway’s Hooked followed behind in second place. The award-winning chip shop has something for everyone, from traditional fish and chips to seafood tagliatelle.

Meanwhile, The Fisherman’s Catch, based in Clogherhead, ranked third on the list. This chippy is known for its freshly prepared catches of the day.

Meanwhile, Dingle seems to be the place to head for your next battered cod as Reel Dingle Fish followed in fourth place - which was also revealed as the place for the best fish and chips in Ireland.

Other popular shops included Wharton’s in Kerry, John Keogh’s Gastropub in Galway, and Presto Chipper in Dublin.
