Restaurants in Ireland and Northern Ireland added to The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2025:

allta in Dublin

Modern Cuisine, Seafood

Here's what Michelin says: "After years of moving around Dublin at festivals and pop-ups, the talented team behind allta finally have a permanent home in this spacious dockside building in a swish area of the city. The space is split into two parts: an industrial-chic cocktail bar complete with DJ and a separate dining room with an open kitchen where guests can sit at the counter. The cooking has a strong Irish base, with quality seafood from Union Hall prawns to day-boat sole making an appearance. If you like your dessert with a side of nostalgia, go for the soft serve ice cream."

Baba'de in Baltimore, Co Cork – Bib Gourmand

Turkish

Here's what Michelin says: "With a name meaning ‘Baby Dede’, this second Baltimore venture from Chef Ahmet Dede is an ode to his family and comes with all the homespun charm you’d expect. Located mere feet away from his acclaimed flagship restaurant, this is a more relaxed affair but the great value sharing plates retain the older sibling’s ethos of Turkish flavours married with Irish produce. Each dish – from a unique take on oyster chowder to Ahmet’s signature ‘içli köfte’ – is bright, fresh and wholly satisfying."

Ballyfin in Ballyfin, Co Laois – One MICHELIN Star

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "It takes some doing for a restaurant to stand out when it’s in a hotel as beautiful as this. Ballyfin Demesne is a spectacular, lovingly restored Regency-era manor house that screams luxury at every turn. The opulence continues into the dining room, where the chefs serve fittingly impressive dishes. Broths, purées and sauces are a real highlight and underline the technical skill of the kitchen team, be it a rich, glossy reduction or a roasted onion consommé with bags of flavour. Charming and attentive service completes the rather special picture."

Bucks Head in Dundrum, Co Down

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "Chef Alex Greene’s first job was at this historic pub and now he has returned to his hometown to run the lovely village inn with his partner Bronagh McCormick. He arrives back in Dundrum with plenty of experience, borne out in pared-back, accessible and hugely enjoyable dishes based on a bounty of Northern Irish produce, from Kilkeel crab to Mourne Spring lamb – the seafood chowder is a particular highlight. The pub itself is charming, as is the service led by Bronagh."

Caladh in Greystones, Co Wicklow

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "A welcome addition to this residential seaside town just south of Dublin, Caladh sits inside a double-fronted Georgian property painted in a fresh light green colour that permeates inside, giving a cool, calming vibe to the brasserie-style dining room. The chefs aren’t trying to reinvent the wheel here, and therein lies the appeal. Classic dishes like confit duck leg and grilled pork chop are ingredient-led and lean on the abundant natural flavours of the produce. A sensibly priced wine list adds to the already considerable attraction."

daróg in Galway – Bib Gourmand

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "There’s a huge amount of passion channelled into this welcoming little wine bar. Hungarian-born Zsolt Lukács has an infectious enthusiasm for wine, which comes across in his carefully curated list that gravitates towards small artisan producers using organic and biodynamic methods. Accompanying the wine is a selection of sharing plates – like kingfish crudo – that are exactingly executed, deliver on flavour and provide brilliant value for money. The regularly changing artwork from local artists is on sale and is curated by co-owner Edel."

Zsolt Lukács, the co-owner and sommelier of daróg, also won a Michelin Special Award, the Sommelier Award. Michelin describes Lukács as "an engaging, dedicated man who is clearly so passionate about the wine list he has curated here. His recommendations are knowledgeable and thoughtfully considered, then communicated to guests in a refreshingly unpretentious way that makes them feel relaxed and comfortable."

Jean-Georges at The Leinster in Dublin

Contemporary

Here's what Michelin says: "The famed French chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who owns restaurants all over the world, has now expanded his empire to the Emerald Isle with this top-floor restaurant inside The Leinster hotel. It’s a cosy and comfortable place, with floor-to-ceiling windows and an awning-covered terrace allowing for prime city views. The extensive menu includes Jean-Georges signatures like egg toast with caviar, alongside a range of international influences from rigatoni with meatballs to spiced chicken samosas."

Landline in Kenmare, Co Kerry

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "Situated within the grand Park Hotel, overlooking Kenmare Bay, this elegant dining room comes with the added bonus of being decorated with original paintings by Irish artist Sean Scully – the restaurant is even named after one of his works. The kitchen showcases a bounty of prime Irish produce, embellishing it with precise, well-judged accompaniments – a lovely mussel and dulse sauce with halibut is a prime example. Oenophiles will appreciate the strong choice of classic vintages."

Matsukawa in Dublin

Japanese, Sushi

Here's what Michelin says: "With only eight seats around its counter, don’t be put off if you can’t secure a reservation at this sweetly run sushi restaurant at the first time of asking. The omakase menu is based around fine seafood produce, most of it Irish, with multiple servings of nigiri forming a large chunk of the experience – the hamachi and the salmon are particular highlights. The team are endearing and the service is not drawn-out, allowing you to enjoy a satisfying meal that doesn’t take all night. A good selection of sake and other Japanese spirits completes the offering."

mrDeanes in Belfast – Bib Gourmand

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "Its full name, ‘mrDeanes Bistro, Bar and Social’, paints a perfect picture of this spacious addition to Michael Deane’s ever-evolving Belfast empire. Grab a cocktail at the bar before taking your seat in a restaurant that’s bursting with vitality. The eminently appealing menu offers well-executed takes on dishes from all over the world, be it Gaeng Phed red curry or ‘entrecôte au poivre’. There's a palpable generosity to the place too, with the food and wine both offering great value for money."

Rare in Kinsale, Co Cork

Indian, Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "Take your seat in this understated, rustic-chic dining room and watch the team at work through the kitchen’s floor-to-ceiling windows. The chef is from Chennai and it is the south Indian region of Tamil Nadu which most influences the cooking, resulting in dishes that make abundant use of chilli, coconut and sweeter elements such as tamarind and date – all underpinned by the abundant West Cork larder. Service is professional and engaging, with the chefs bringing dishes to the table themselves to make for a more personal experience."

Saga in Belfast

Modern Cuisine

Here's what Michelin says: "The restaurant formerly known as Blank has been reinvented as this ‘Kitchen and Cellar’ showcasing the best of Irish produce and a wine list with good breadth. Gone is the surprise tasting menu of the Blank days and in its place is a concise à la carte that shines in its quality execution of classic dishes – like a fantastic version of Portavogie scallops with black pudding and apple. Sit in the rear to soak up the buzz of the kitchen, or ask for one of the semi-private booths in the front. Come on Sundays for a roast, or Thursdays for the Chateaubriand to share."
