Cheers St Patrick's Day with Ireland's oldest traditional cider Magners

Magners Irish Cider is available in the US for your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations!

This March celebrate St Patrick's Day with Ireland's oldest cider. Produced in Co Tipperary, Magners is still made with the same recipe created by founder William Magner over 80 years ago.

Known as Magners internationally and Bulmers in Ireland, William Magner started making the worldʼs finest Irish cider at Dowdʼs Lane, Clonmel in 1935. Clonmel otherwise known as "Cluain Meale" in the Irish language means "The Valley of Honey".

With a cider press and a dozen oak barrels, Magnerʼs cider-making was so successful it soon began to grow and grow, providing jobs for many of the locals in the town.

Today, the process of grove to pint glass begins in early October with "The Crush" when the Irish apples are gathered. Unlike most brands which remove the fruits from the trees according to a production schedule, the makers of Magners wait until the apples themselves are ready. Harvesters then gently shake the branches and wait for the apples to fall, fully ripened to the ground.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 parts Irish Whiskey
  • 1/2 Part Cinnamon Simple Syrup *(Regular simple syrup with a few
  • cinnamon sticks in it. While it's still warm is the best to get the full flavor)
  • 3 parts Magners® Original
  • Splash of fresh lemon

Method

  • Add Whiskey and simple syrup, shake, and strain into an old-fashioned glass with ice. Top with Magners and a splash of lemon juice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.
