Ireland has been predicted to win nine medals at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, whose Opening Ceremony will be held on July 26.

Team Ireland is predicted to bring home two gold medals, two silver medals, and five bronze medals at this year's Summer Games in Paris, according to the latest Virtual Medal Table (VMT) released by Nielsen’s Gracenote.

With nine predicted medals, Ireland rounds out the top 30 countries predicted to bring home Olympic medals this year, tied with Iran, Croatia, and Romania.

The US is at the top of the predictions with 123 medals, followed by China (87), Great Britain (62), France (56), and Australia (48).

The Gracenote VMT is a statistical model based on individual and team results in previous Olympics Games, World Championships, and World Cups to forecast the most likely gold, silver, and bronze medal winners by country.

Should Ireland ultimately scoop the nine medals as predicted on the VMT, it would be the most Team Ireland has ever won at one Olympics.

The most medals Ireland has ever won in one Olympics was six at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London - one gold, one silver, and four bronze.
