Jason Momoa, Guinness and an epic journey around Ireland
Hollywood star Jason Momoa recently shared his experiences of a road trip in Ireland in a search for “the greatest pint of Guinness” while he was on a break from filming the first season of Game of Thrones.
Momoa, a native of Hawaii, posted a photo on Instagram reminiscing about an “amazing” experience in Ireland.
The photo of Momoa in a makeshift mobile home was taken in 2011 when he traveled around Ireland with his friend Brian Andrew Mendoza. The American actor is pictured wrapped in blankets, lying on an air mattress in a rented van “off the road in some quiet parking lot in Donegal.”
Back then a relative unknown, Momoa was in the midst of shooting scenes as Khal Drogo in the first season of Game of Thrones. “Too broke” to fly home, the pair decided to spend their break touring Ireland in a van with air mattresses and blankets, and Momoa said that he still “treasures” those times in the Emerald Isle.

Momoa’s post read, “So homesick. Looking through my phone I found this. Off the road some quiet parking lot in Donegal. It was an amazing simple moment with my best friend @captainriff.
"While filming GOT we had a lil break We were too broke to fly home so we rented a panel van aka UHAUL in Belfast and drove around beautiful amazing IRELAND searching for the greatest pint of Guinness. Turns out, it’s perfect everywhere.”

Unfortunately for Momoa, his time in Ireland would be short-lived as his stint in Game of Thrones ended in 2011. However, Momoa will be able to console himself with the superstardom that has ensued since his role in the hit HBO show.
The actor has gone on to play the lead role in the 2018 blockbuster ‘Aquaman’ and he will reprise that role again in the sequel ‘Aquaman 2,’ set to be released in 2022. There will no longer be any fears of him being too broke to fly home.
Momoa has also shown his love of Guinness on many an occasion, as can be seen below. He even took a can along with him to the GoT premiere in New York a few weeks ago:
