The Murphia List 2019 was recently revealed, highlighting some of the best Irish names working in the London food scene.
The Murphia List is released annually by Irish brother and sister Gavin and Catherine Hanly, who run Hot Dinners, a popular industry-focused website that highlights British dining. The Murphia List 2019 includes thirteen new entries, as well as old favorites like Richard Corrigan and Clare Smyth. It’s a great way to look at how many ex-pats are shaping the way people in the British capital eat.
According to the Hot Dinners website, The Murphia List 2019 is a way for the Hanlys to celebrate their Irish heritage:
“As second-generation Irish, Gavin and I decided five years ago to bring together in a single list all the Irish people we'd met over the years of covering this city's hospitality industry. We wanted to celebrate our own heritage through shining a light on all the passionate people from Ireland who work in London's restaurants, pubs, and bars. And it feels even more pertinent this year, as we approach the Brexit deadline, to be talking about the huge contribution our fellow Europeans make to the food and drink scene here in the UK.”
