Aer Lingus has said it is considering adding a service to Dallas following the unexpected success of new routes to San Francisco and Toronto.
The airline's chief executive, Christoph Mueller, said the airline is intent on starting new routes and increasing capacity to North America after enjoying its best trading in at least five years and reversing a profit warning it issued in June.
And in an interview with the Irish Independent, Mueller confirmed that new services are already on track and would come to fruition before he leaves the Irish airline next May.
He said: "I will not mention any destinations, but we have very concrete plans. There is more good news to come and that will happen while I am still here."
It's likely that the identity of the new services will come to light in the coming months, as guidelines dictate that the routes must be communicated to the trade by the end of the third quarter in order to be in place for next summer.
But Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) chief, Kevin Toland, has already given a strong indication that a service to Dallas is very much on the cards.
He said recently: "There is a large Irish community in Texas and that is certainly an opportunity."
The Irish Independent notes that the relaunched Dublin-San Francisco route that began in April has exceeded the airline's expectations.
Its new services to the city and to Toronto from Dublin added almost $30m in revenue in the second quarter, while Aer Lingus has increased capacity to North America by 25 percent from last year.
