Though it's a landmark pub in the coastal village, it's likely Queen's Pub will pique the interest of hoteliers as it has planning permission for a 30-bed guesthouse at the rear of the property, per The Irish Times.

With that substantial planning permission in place, the property is now on the market for €3.95 million, an increase of €450,000 since it was purchased in 2021.

Located in the heat of Dalkey's hustle and bustle, Queen's Pub is one of Ireland's most historic pubs, its roots dating back to 1745.

The property comprises of a spacious main bar and dining area on its ground floor, including The Parlour which has been available for private get-togethers.

On the property's first floor is The Vico, a function room with its own bar, seating areas, storage, and service facilities.

Queen's Pub, beloved by stars from Bono to Bruce Springsteen, also plays host to an enclosed courtyard terrace, which is south-facing and is the perfect sun trap on a summer's eve.

News of the pub's sale comes three months after its owners, Ray Byrne and Eoin Doyle, put another of their properties, the four-star Eccles Hotel and Spa in Glengarriff, Co Cork, on the market for €5million.

The hoteliers acquired Queen's Pub three years ago in 2021 from its previous owners, former AIB CEO Tom Mulcahy and his wife June, who paid an estimated €7 million for it in 2003. The couple owned and operated the pub until the Covid-19 pandemic, which struck Ireland in 2020, forced them to close its doors.
