This event delves into the closing months of President John F. Kennedy’s life, exploring one of the most pivotal periods of his presidency.
The presentation, led by esteemed scholars Dr. Brian Murphy and Professor Donnacha Ó Beacháin, will chronicle JFK’s journey from Shannon Airport on June 29, 1963, to his tragic assassination in Dallas, Texas, on November 22.
The speakers will highlight how these weeks reflected Kennedy’s determined pursuit of peace in the shadow of the Cold War. Marked by landmark achievements like the nuclear test ban treaty and outreach to Cold War adversaries, this period encapsulates the President’s transformation from a staunch Cold Warrior to an advocate for peaceful coexistence.
