2024 saw several very impressive mansions get scooped up off the market. Here we look back at some of the most expensive homes that were sold - and they weren't all in Dublin!
Ballynatray House, Youghal, Co Cork
Coming out on top, we have this sprawling Youghal estate. Ballynatray House in Cork is believed to be the most expensive home sold in Ireland in 2024 for a whopping €29.25million.
The late Georgian estate, which is located along the river Blackwater just outside of Youghal, is set on 850 acres of land The mansion is understood to have been scooped up in February.
The huge house is understood to have been bought by James Dyson, the British entrepreneur behind the vacuum cleaner and hair tool empire.
Ballynatray House was built between 1795 and 1797. The house includes ruins of an ancient abbey as well as estate houses but it has modern twists too. It even has a swimming pool!
Censure House, Ceanchor Road, Howth, Dublin
Censure House in Howth has every amenity you could hope for, a swimming pool that turns into a dance floor, huge manicured grounds, and even a fully enclosed paddock - perfect for horse owners.
The six-bedroom property stretches out over 1,365 sqm and it was sold for €10million this year.
Censure House is steeped in history, despite its modern facilities. It was once owned by socialite Jennifer Guinness of the Guinness family.

Victoria House, 81 Ailesbury Road, Dublin
Victoria House on Ailesbury Road was one of Dublin's most sought-after homes before it was purchased in September for an eyewatering €10,000,000.
Located on one of the capital's most prestigious roads, the newly refurbished house stretches out over 550sqm. Sold through Sherry FitzGerald, the home boasts electronic security gates, with room for six cars to park on the gravel drive, and charging points for electric vehicles.

Rarc-an-Ilan, 22 Coliemore Road, Dalkey, Dublin
Dalkey was bound to get a mention in the list. The notoriously pricey area boasts some stunning homes, including Rarc-an-Ilan.
The waterfront home is located on Coliemore Road and was scooped off the market for €7,500,000 in June. The villa-style home has plenty of space, spanning approximately 318 m².
The elegant four-bedroom, three-bathroom house offers access to the shore, a sea swimmer's dream! While it appears to be an older home from the outside, it was completely reconstructed in the early ’90s, so it is very modern inside.
Waverley, Westminster Road, Foxrock, Dublin
Waverly is a seven-bedroom, detached house in Foxrock. The home, which was totally revamped in 2005, sold for €7.3million in July.
The sprawling house, located on Westminster Road, boasts a host of extra amenities, including a cinema room, a home gym, a walnut-lined home office, and an LED-lined gazebo in the garden.

3 Churchfields, The K Club, Co Kildare
Number 3 Churchfields at the K Club was purchased in September for €6million. The five-bedroom detached Regency-style home stretches out over 582sq m.
The house is one of the biggest homes on the exclusive K Club grounds in Straffan, Co Kildare.
The home, which was built in the 1990s, has been extensively refurbished recently. It was originally owned by the late racehorse trainer Vincent O'Brien and his wife.
Avondale, Avoca Avenue, Blackrock, Dublin
Another South Dublin home on the list, Avondale is located on the prestigious Avoca Avenue in Blackrock. The home was sold for €5,850,000 in September through Lisney Sotheby's.
The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom detached house stretches out over 558 sqm and is just a short walk to Blackrock village. It was recently refurbished to 'impeccable standards' to combine its timeless charm with modern amenities.
Seaspray, Scilly, Kinsale, Co Cork
Another county Cork home, Seaspray in the picturesque village of Kinsale was sold for €5.5million this year. The contemporary glass box-styled home in Scilly boasts an open-plan kitchen and living area that benefits from panoramic views of the harbour.
Seaspray has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, it was scooped up by US billionaire James Berwind earlier this year after he fell in love with the village when he sailed in on his superyacht.
Saint Ann's, Killiney Hill Road, Killiney, Dublin
Another notoriously sought-after location, Saint Ann's house is located on Killiney Hill Road. The house's prime location on the hill allows for views of both the sea, and the mountains. It sold for €5,800,000.
The 610 m2 home boasts a whopping five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, all adorned with classic cream interior. Saint Ann's boasts a range of amenities, including a gaming room, a study, a pantry, a reading area, and a walk-in wardrobe.

Killough Castle and Farm, Thurles, Co Tipperary
This jaw-dropping castle-style home stretches across 527 acres near Thurles in Tipperary. The sprawling country home was sold in April through letting agent Sherry FitzGerald for €505,000.
Killough Castle and Farms holds a lot of history, as it dates back to the early 1400s. The original Tower House has gotten lots of new additions over the years, including six bedrooms, and there is also a three-bedroom gate lodge.
