To represent her love of art, sport and reading, gifts symbolizing her short life were brought to the alter including a Roald Dahl book, a sports top, one of her drawings and her coloring pencils.

Her father recalled how Amy loved to read and would often entertain her younger brothers Michael and Thomas.

"When the lads would go up to bed, we'd go up 10 minutes later to check them and they'd all be there in the one bed, with Amy reading them a story," Paul told mourners.

In accordance with the Byrne’s family wishes, instead of delivering a homily Fr Michael Kennedy invited those present to reflect in silence on Amy’s life and the memories she left behind, telling them; "She's looking down on us, smiling at us."
