If you really wanted to get away what could be better than your own private island of the Wild Atlantic Way, at Mayo. An entire island off Belmullet is up for auction with a reserve price of just $131,000 (€100,000).
Allsop is set to hold its biggest public auctions of 261 Irish properties. One of the biggest bargains up for auction is Duvillaun Beg Island, Belmullet. The island is approximately 22.6 hectares (55.8 acres) and located on the Wild Atlantic Way tourist trail.
The island is one among a cluster cluster of islands known as Duvillaun and is located to the south of the Iniskea Islands, off the Mullet (or Erris) Peninsula. It is accessible by boat from Belmullet, a Gaeltacht town with a population of approximately 1,000 people.

However, this Belmullet island does not have a residence included. If it did most likely the reserve price would be far higher.
In 2013 an unnamed UK resident bought Inish Turk Beg for $3.81 million. However, that 65-acre island with a view of Croagh Patrick also included a six-bedroom house, a large indoor swimming poll along with five luxurious island houses. In fact, $3.81 million seems like a bargain. Inish Turk also included a floating jetty, a sports complex, a home cinema, a gym, an Irish dance hall and an outdoor sound system.
Allsop’s auction, including Duvillaun Beg Island, Belmullet, will take place on September 16 at the RDS in Dublin.
Some of the other choice morsels up for auction are:
- Hayes Hotel in Thurles: This historic hotel is where the GAA was founded in 1884. Comprising a reception, lounge bar, coffee dock, two nightclubs together with 30 bedrooms the reserve price range is €450,000 – €500,000 ($600,000 - $650,000).
- Scott's Bar, 17 George's Street Upper, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin: A prominent and attractive town center public house. Reserve range €315,000 – €335,000 ($415,000 - $440,000).
