Suspect to be cleared over Michaela Harte’s honeymoon murder

The fifth suspect in the Michaela Harte’s murder investigation is to be cleared.

Following the change of statement by colleague Dassen Naraynen police in Mauritius now believe that security guard Seenarain Mungoo (39) could be innocent.

Earlier Naraynen had told the court that Mungoo provided the keycard to his colleagues to allow them to enter Michael’s room. The police queried whether this was true and had arranged a stand off between Mungoo and Naraynen over the matter. Naraynen admitted it was a lie.

Naraynen will made a fresh statement on Monday. The two men are being remanded in court.

It is expected that there will be additional arrests made over the next few days.

Michaela Harte a 27-year-old, Irish teacher from Tyrone was murdered in her hotel room in Mauritius having interrupted a robbery. She had only been married for 12 days.

The four suspects in the case will appear in court on January 26. The police plan to hold a face to face meeting with the other hotel workers Avinash Treebhoowoon (29) and Sandip Mooneea (41) along with further interviewing of room attendant Raj Theekoy (33).

They hope that this will uncover the truth what really happened that night. So far Treebhoowoon is the only one to admit any involvement in the murder.
