A Boston teenager has been charged with the murder of Irish immigrant Ciaran Conneely on October 10 last.

John Graham (17) allegedly killed Conneely (36), a Galway native, on a quiet street near Adams Corner in Dorchester. He was the first Irish immigrant killed in the city in at least 16 years, according to the Boston Globe.

On Tuesday a grand jury returned an indictment charging Graham with first-degree murder, armed assault, intent to rob, unlawful possession of a firearm.

The Dorcester teenager has also been charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to rob and single counts of armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A date for the Boston man’s arraignment in Suffolk Superior Court has not yet been set. He is currently being held on $100,000 cash bail.

Known to us friends as Kiwi, the Galway man, originally from the Aran Islands, was returning home from the annual Irish Heritage Festival in Adams Corner, when he was shot.

A construction worker, he has not returned to Ireland in over ten years.
