IrishCentral spent the day with the drivers and horse-drawn carriages in Central Park, New York City.
We spoke with Connor McHugh, the stable manager, a Leitrim native, who has 27 years of experience under his belt. He took IrishCentral on a tour of the stables and we saw some of the 78 horses who work out of the Manhattan locations.
McHugh told IrishCentral 99.9 percent of the horses come from Amish Country, in Ohio. The retirement home the horses are sent to are in Palmer, Massachusetts at an Equine Culture called Blue Star.
