Aiden Perris, 47, is originally from Dublin but was living in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England, with his wife Victoria and their two sons George and Liam, when he was struck by a car that had mounted the pavement outside a pub in Boldemore on July 25.

Mr Perris’ brother Darrin confirmed that he was killed in the incident, while West Midlands Police said that another man was injured. A woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She was subsequently released without charge, pending a full investigation.

Mr Perris’ brother Darrin paid an emotional tribute to his brother, writing on Facebook "My brother Aiden Perris tragically died in an accident on Thursday night in Boldmere, a car mounted the pavement where he was sitting having a drink.

"He sadly died at the scene. A huge loss to his young boys 11 and 15."

A GoFundMe to help Mr Perris’ family following the tragedy, reads: "On Thursday 25th July Aiden was tragically taken from us far to soon on what should have been a normal night out. This tragic accident has left a massive void for all that know and love Aiden but especially his beloved Vicki, Liam & George.

"The tributes & love shown in these last days has been a comfort to the family & a testimony how highly thought of Aiden is. Many have asked if they can send a donation to support Aiden’s beautiful family as they navigate this tragedy, so this page is set up to enable this & capture your messages for Vicki & the boys.

"Aiden will be forever in our hearts & memories, leaving a lasting legacy. Slán go Fóill."

"A family has lost a father, a son, uncle and a brother in such tragic circumstances," Detective Sergeant Rich Evans of the West Midlands Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit told Birmingham Live.

"We are continuing to investigate the collision and ask any witnesses who have not made contact with us to do so.’

"Any evidence no matter how small can be helpful. Our family liaison officers will continue to support Aiden’s family and our investigation team are working tirelessly to understand how the collision occurred."

The West Midlands Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit via sciu@westmidlands. police.uk or by calling 101, quoting log 5400 of July 25.
