Annie McMahon from Westchester, New York, has survived two double lung transplants but is now too sick for a third. Can Irish America help her meet her idol?
Pop superstar Taylor Swift could make one brave Irish American survivor's dream come true as friends and family of 22-year-old Annie McMahon rally to win the attention of the "Shake It Off" singer.
Annie, from Westchester, New York, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in 1998 and survived two double lung transplants, the first in October 2016 and the second in November 2017. Following complications with her first transplant, she had to make a three-month hospital stay and when her body began to reject the new lungs in July 2017, she was placed on the transplant list once again.
Now too sick for a third transplant, Annie dreams of meeting with her idol Taylor Swift, whose songs have helped her through the disease.
Speaking to IrishCentral from New York Presbyterian, Annie extended her thanks for the love and support over the last week, explaining that "Taylor's songs got me through all of the tough times."
