Celtic are coming across the Irish Sea to take on Cork City this summer – and the clash will be taking place at an iconic GAA ground.

The Bhoys are all set to run away with the Scottish title for the fourth season on the spin given their 13-point lead atop the Scottish Premiership.

The Glasgow outfit have plenty of the agenda in the coming months but preparations are already coming together ahead of the 2025/26 season.

As per reports, Cork City are set to meet Celtic on Tuesday, July 8 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The clash marks the third time a soccer match has been held at the GAA venue.

Celtic friendly

Last summer saw over 18,000 fans take in the Ireland women’s national team take on France in a Euro 2025 qualifier, which came six years after a sold-out testimonial was held between a Republic of Ireland XI and Celtic/Manchester United XI for the late Liam Miller.

The full details of the event are set to be unveiled in the coming weeks and it remains unclear whether the stadium’s famous terraces will be open for the occasion.

The friendly will see Cork native Adam Idah return to his home county with the Bhoys, while Irish stars like Liam Scales and Johnny Kenny also call Parkhead home.

Brendan Rodgers’ side could well be coming into the encounter as treble winners given their position in the league and the fact they have already claimed the Scottish League Cup.

Cork City, meanwhile, are back in the Premier Division after winning the First Division under manager Tim Clancy last season.

The summer friendly will fall between the Rebel Army’s visit to champions Shelbourne on July 4 and the trip to Waterford on July 11.

Clancy’s charges have played just once in the league so far this season – drawing 2-2 with Galway United – after their Sunday clash with Shamrock Rovers called off at the last minute due to a waterlogged pitch.
