On Monday, December 8, 2014, The United Nations Association of Boston hosted its UN luncheon at the Boston Harbor Hotel.
This annual event, in its 15th year, 120 guests gathered to celebrate the UN’s accomplishments and indispensable work in the world. Ireland’s Ambassador to the UN David Donoghue gave the keynote address and spoke about Ireland’s pivotal role in guiding the upcoming Development goals discussions at the UN, which Ireland co-chairs (with Kenya) the 2015 negotiation process.
Luncheon attendees included individuals and companies actively involved in global affairs at the local Boston level.
UNAGB Executive Director, Fiona Creed, originally from Co. Cork was delighted with the event stating that “Given Ireland’s impressive record of leadership at the UN in NY and Geneva, and the commitment of Irish UN peacekeepers in trouble spots all over the globe, Ireland’s UN Ambassador David Donoghue was a natural choice for the UN supporters in Boston.”
The funds raised at the event support UNA Boston’s Model UN education programs Boston public schools and throughout Massachusetts.
