Leghowney Drama Club of Leghowney, Co. Donegal will be performing "A Wake in the West" October 27th and 28th in Cresskill, NJ to benefit ASCPG.
An Irish Wake in the West of Ireland in the 1970s is the center of Mayo playwright, Michael J. Ginnelly's famous side-splitting comedy, "A Wake in the West." The Leghowney Drama Club of Leghowney, Co. Donegal will bring their production to Bergen County this October.
The play brings the 1970s to life in the West of Ireland after Tom Healy drinks himself to death, and his final wish is to be buried in the drink at sea. The neighbors come to pay their final respects to Tom and sympathize with his family. The Leghowney Drama Club is one of Ireland's longest established amateur drama clubs, established in 1937. This production will be their 41st successive play. Nothing brings Irish village life together more so than a wake, this comedy is one that you won't want to miss.
All proceeds of the production will benefit The American Special Children's Pilgrimage Group (ASCPG). The organization runs an annual life-changing pilgrimage to Lourdes for young people with physical & developmental disabilities.
Dates are Saturday, October 27th at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux School Gymnasium
