Sullivans and O’Sullivans all over the world are invited to participate in a world record event on the Beara Peninsula, in the Cork/Kerry area, from May 30 to June 2, 2026.

The O’Sullivan Clan in counties Cork and Kerry invites those with the same name from around the world to take part in the largest gathering of people with the same surname. The gathering will be in Castletownbere, on the Beara Peninsula, over the June bank holiday weekend in 2026.

The event will be hosted by the Chieftain of the O’Sullivan Clan, Kelly Sullivan, who was presented with the chain of office by the Cork and Kerry County Mayors on the steps of City Hall in Boston in 2023. Kelly is the granddaughter and grandniece George, Francis, Joseph, Madison and Albert Sullivan of Waterloo, the five brothers killed on Nov 13, 1942 during World War II.

The weekend will feature a full programme of family-friendly events all over the Beara peninsula. This will be a unique opportunity for members of the Sullivan/O’Sullivan clan to visit their ancestral home in a celebration of their heritage.

Currently the Gallagher clan of County Donegal holds the record for the largest gathering of people with the same surname but now the O'Sullivans are making moves to take over this mantel.

The event will be a family-friendly one filled with music and entertainment. It will also include tours to educate visitors on the O’Sullivan Beare castles, and emigration from the Beara Peninsula, South Kerry and West Cork throughout the centuries.

Those who plan to attend are invited to show their pride by wearing the jersey of the sports club they support be it their club, county, or country jersey to the event.

Register your attendance at OSullivanClan.org.
