The Columban sisters were founded in Ireland in 1922 under the patronage of Saint Columban, an Irish missionary to Europe in the sixth century. The Columban Sisters first mission was to China, to proclaim and witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. The Columban Sisters seeks to establish the Catholic Church among people who have never heard the Gospel, to help local churches evangelize laity, promote dialogue with other faiths and foster among all baptized people an awareness of missionary responsibility.
At present the Sisters are in Chile, China, England, Ireland, Korea, Myanmar (Burma),Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Scotland and the United States: Buffalo, New York; Los Angeles California and Brighton, Massachusetts.
For many years, the Columban Sisters have been supported both financially and prayerfully by the generous people here in the United States. While Columbans have gone “to the ends of the earth” to bring the Good News to others, they could not have done it without the generous support of their benefactors and friends.
On November 9, an annual fundraiser for the Columban Sisters will take place in Florian Hall, Dorchester and all monies raised will benefit the mission directly. Music will be provided by Erin's Melody. Starts 3:00pm-9:00pm. Donation $10. For further information, please contact 617-782-5683 or 617-782-1610
