Former MMA fighter Conor McGregor has launched an appeal against the civil court finding that he sexually assaulted Nikita Hand in a Dublin hotel in 2018.

In a case that concluded last November, the jury sided with Dublin woman Ms. Hand, with the judge saying they had determined the former MMA fighter had raped her in the Beacon Hotel on December 9, 2018.

Mr. McGregor was ordered to pay Ms. Hand almost €250,000 in damages, and her legal fees, following the two-week civil process.

But on Friday, February 14, the 36-year-old Crumlin man filed an appeal against the jury’s conclusion – an intention he had signalled on social media since the verdict was announced.

Last month, the High Court blocked Mr. McGregor from sharing evidence from the civil trial – CCTV footage of Ms. Hand and Mr. McGregor in the hotel lift before and after the alleged assault.

Mr. McGregor had not made any comment on the appeal by last night.

On the same day the appeal was filed, Mr. McGregor was promoting the latest signing to his label, Greenback Records, on social media.

He described British pop four-piece Sweet Love as "the biggest girl band since the Spice Girls," including a video in which he personally introduces the "beautiful" and "gorgeous" members.

Also on X, the ex-UFC star continued to post anti-immigration rhetoric to his 10.6 million followers, and again signalled his intention to run for President this year.

Sharing JD Vance’s controversial speech in Munich this week, Mr. McGregor posted: "Incredibly impressive! Accuracy is FINAL, GOD BLESS AMERICA!"

Mr. McGregor lost several lucrative partnerships after the civil case.
