Conor McGregor shared pictures of him posing with the FAI Cup and pints of his Forged Stout on social media.

Conor McGregor's recent social posts featuring the FAI Cup, recently won by Drogheda United, has prompted a response from the Co Louth-based club.

"A social media post has been brought to our attention today regarding the FAI Cup," Drogheda United said in a statement on Tuesday, January 7.

"Those pictured are a close relation to one of our first team players, who like all the other players had custody of the cup to celebrate with their families at different intervals.

"Drogheda United do not associate ourselves with the individual who made the social media post in any way, or with any unauthorised brands mentioned."

Drogheda United, a part of the League of Ireland Premier Division, won the FAI Cup on November 10 after beating Derry City FC 2-0 at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.

Drogheda United’s statement appears to reference social media posts from Conor McGregor which he shared - and apparently later edited - on Tuesday.

McGregor's original post on Instagram was reportedly captioned: "Yup the gaf! FAI cup in the house! Congrats my cuz Warren on winning the fai trophy with @dundalkfc!

"That’s two of my cousins now who have won this prestigious Irish Football League trophy. One with Bohs, Keith, and one with Dundalk, Warren!! Tremendous! It’s in the blood!"

Later, McGregor reportedly edited his caption on Instagram to tag Drogheda United instead of its rivals Dundalk FC.

He went on to again change his Instagram caption: "How much is it to buy a league of Ireland team I might buy two?"

However, on Wednesday, McGregor's Instagram post, which now carries an "edited" disclaimer, is simply captioned "yup the gaf" and includes a tag of his Black Forge Inn pub and restaurant.

(On Facebook, however, McGregor's post featuring the FAI Cup still has the previous caption "How much is it to buy a league of Ireland team I might buy two.")

The FAI Cup is featured in six of the photos in McGregor's Instagram post which has drawn more than 220k likes and more than 740 comments.

The social media spat comes less than two months after a jury in Dublin found that the Irish UFC star had sexually assaulted accuser Nikita Hand in 2018.

The jury awarded Hand €248,603.60 in damages at the conclusion of the civil trial.

McGregor, who maintains his innocence and has vowed to appeal the decision, has additionally been ordered to pay Hand's legal costs, estimated at up to €1.5 million.

Since the jury's decision, groups have called to boycott McGregor, his social media accounts, and his many business interests.
