Logan Storm, 48, is understood to have arrived in Ireland last month. The former Middle School teacher was jailed for eight years after possessing child pornography in 2013. He was convicted by a federal jury after failing to appear in court.
The investigation began in July 2010 when Storm’s then-girlfriend found child pornography images on his laptop computer and thumb drive hidden in their bedroom.
A laptop and two thumb drives were seized from Storm’s home following a search warrant carried out by the Multnomah County Child Abuse Team.
Storm fled to Canada before making the move to Europe, where he stayed for six months.
The District of Oregon’s US Attorney's Office revealed that forensic examinations revealed images of sexual abuse on the items seized.
Storm was convicted on January 29, 2013, but was allowed to remain out of custody pending a detention hearing the next day. He cut off his monitor bracelet and fled to Mexico but was apprehended six weeks later.
The Irish Sun now reports that the convicted pedophile has attempted to make Ireland his base, and tried to rent a property in Macroom, Co Cork in recent weeks.
Claiming he was a "retired teacher", Storm was found out when the landlord searched his name online before the rental agreement was signed.
The publication reports that Gardaí [Irish police] are trying to track the American down as he has failed to confirm his whereabouts, as per requirement under the Sex Offenders Act, 2001.
Storm has been branded a "very devious" man, as The Irish Sun reports he has "never admitted his guilt."
