Trump's visit to Ireland has caused Paddy Power to go on a mischievous rampage.
Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has launched a marketing campaign steeped in mischief ahead of the visit of US President Donald Trump to Ireland.
‘Donald Plaza’ was unveiled in the Clare town of Lissycasey, close to the Trump resort in Doonbeg where the president will be staying in Ireland.
A nod to Barack Obama Plaza in Moneygall, Donald Plaza is bedecked in tacky bling and slogans mocking some of Trump’s more notorious controversies.
Joe Lee, head of Trump betting for Paddy Power, gave unveiled the plaza and talked about some of the plaza’s features, including a glitzy forecourt.

“It’s like a typical forecourt if the service station was to roll out the red carpet, from the golden chandeliers adorning the structure behind me to the gold gilded petrol pumps in case the president wants to make a quick refuel stop along the way.
“Like Barack Obama plaza in Moneygall, we have some tremendous services as well; you can grab a quick coffee from ‘Make Americanos Great Again’ Café. We know the president likes a hamburger so we’ve organised tremendous macs to be here on site and to wash it all down we’ve got some stormy shakes, although we do advise customers, they may repeat on you.”
Customers in need of building supplies can visit Jose’s Wall Supplies, whose business model of paying you for the work they do is an interesting tactic. The jury is still out on whether that will work out for them.
Those in need of car repair can visit Vlad’s Auto Repair, for ‘quick and easy collusion repair.’ Unfortunately, those looking to pay by card will have to look elsewhere as Vlad’s is a cash only service.
Tongue in cheek references to Trump’s most infamous speeches can also be found throughout the plaza. A message giving the president “a yuge welcome to the west” can be seen by the Make Americanos Great Again café, while the bookmakers described the new plaza as “beautiful, classy, just tremendous.”
An invitation sent from the bookmaker to the US President read, “horrible to look at, bad for the environment, the locals hate it and it’s full of gas. You’ll love it!”
An advertisement from the bookies in Shannon Airport depicting a weather map with caricatures of Trump with the message “stormy with a chance of impeachment” was banned by the authorities.
