The Brehon Law Society will host its third U.S. Ireland Law and Business Symposium in Westport, County Mayo, with the Irish leader Enda Kenny scheduled to make the keynote address.

John J. O’Malley, Esq., Chairman of the Brehon Law Society said, “The theme of this year’s symposium is ‘Doing Business in the U.S. / Ireland / Europe – Critical Legal Issues for U.S. and Irish Companies’.”

Attendees are expected from the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The legal symposium has three core objectives - to harness the experience and expertise of top legal professionals across the globe, to highlight the exceptional legal, financial and other professional services in the U.S., Ireland and Europe, and to promote Ireland, the U.S. and Europe as destinations for foreign direct investment.

O’Malley continued, “The program will address topics which are essential for international business exchange between both countries and will include import/export regulations, legal trends in the U.S. and Ireland and how to navigate cross border legal risks in intellectual property.”

The Western Development Commission and Mayo County Council were key players in bringing this Symposium to the West of Ireland once again in a move that dovetails with Government plans for trade, tourism and investment.

Peter Hynes, Mayo County Manager commented, “We welcome the opportunity to host this Legal Symposium here in Mayo. We are eager to welcome the brightest of Irish and American legal minds to Westport as an important step in reinforcing positive messages about the country and Co Mayo in helping to support Government objectives to drive jobs, indigenous exports, tourism and foreign direct investment.”

The Chairman of the Western Development Commission Paddy McGuinness added, “We in the West of Ireland strongly welcome back our friends in the Brehon Law Society. In this its third year we are delighted to support such an auspicious event.

“Our work on www.lookwest.ie, promoting Ireland’s Western Region as a great place to live, work and do business in has given the WDC an opportunity to meaningfully engage international Diaspora communities and this symposium is a cornerstone of such efforts.”

U.S. legal groups are no strangers to Ireland as part of their quest for continuing legal education. The U.S./Ireland Symposium is a unique event that seeks to draw lawyers from across the United States and throughout Ireland to an event in the West of Ireland.

The Cathaoirleach (Mayor) of Mayo County Council, Councillor John O’Malley has extended a warm “Céad Míle Fáilte” to Mayo to all attending delegates at the Symposium and looks forward to greeting them in September 2013. The event will take place over a three day period and will combine a mix of accredited classes with social and networking opportunities.
