As Annie Heyneman's husband, Henk, continues to heal from his injuries in hospital the community has raised over €54k to support him and their family following the tragedy that occurred at their home in Kilnavert, in County Cavan on Jan 11.
Danny Heyneman (31) has been accused of killing his mother, Annie (55) in their home. Henk, her husband, who was severely injured managed to flee the house and raise the alarm. Sadly, Annie died of her injuries.
Now a GoFundMe set up by Natalie Grogan has raised over €54k, over double the target of the fund.
Grogan wrote "Annie was a kind, caring and beautiful soul who dedicated her life to her family and community in which her passing has left a gaping hole.
"In such unprecedented circumstances I have set up this go fund me to help the family through this difficult time.
"As well as helping toward funeral costs, It will also help to support Henk once he returns home with any additional care he may need
"I know we as a community want to come together to show this wonderful family our support. To show we are behind them and grieving alongside them.
"On behalf of the Heyneman family I want to thank you all for your support, kind words and prayers at this time.
"May Annie's beautiful soul rest in peace. [sic]"
On Friday, Jan 17, the accused in the murder of Annie and attempted murder of her Dutch-born husband, Henk, their son, Danny appeared at Cavan District Court via video link. Danny is currently in custody at Cloverhill Prison.
It is understood that Danny attacked his parents at their family home on Derrycasan Lane, in Kilnavert, near Ballyconnell in County Cavan. He then left the house and traveled to a takeaway about 5km away where he raised the alarm.
Danny will appear in court again on Thursday, Jan 23.
