All together now - "Hail Mary full of grace, the lord is with thee..."
Even if you don't recite it every night you are sure to remember it from Catholic schooling and Sunday masses.
A new book released claims that Our Lady's prayer is the most popularly recited prayer by Irish families in the Limerick region.
The book, "Prayers of our People", was created from interviews with over 2,000 children and their families in 70 plus parishes in the Diocese of Limerick and neighboring areas.
Children in the equivalent to eighth and ninth grade in Ireland were asked to name their favorite prayer and the one they say the most.
Over 800 children chose the "Hail Mary."
One would assume the runner up would be the "Our Father" but it got relegated to third place. In close second was the "Angel of God" prayer.
A number of night prayers and morning prayers came in fourth and fifth and taking the sixth spot was the "Act of Sorrow" and in seventh place was the "Glory Be to the Father."
