Anand Goel, 26, was a student at Trinity College in Dublin
The Indian student who fell to his death at the Cliffs of Moher had been on a photo tour of Ireland, it has been revealed.
The Independent reports that Trinity College student Anand Goel, 26, had recently documented visits to Killarney, Wexford, and Galway on his Instagram page prior to his tragic death.
On Friday, January 4, Goel fell some 600 feet to his death from the Cliffs of Moher while attempting to take a selfie at the popular Irish tourist attraction. Gardai are not treating his death as suspicious, and are working to repatriate Goel's body to his native India.
Goel, a native of Delhi in India, had arrived at Trinity College in September where he was studying marketing and design. The University has since offered their condolences and pledged their support in the wake of the tragedy.
In a statement, Trinity College said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our students at the Cliffs of Moher on Friday afternoon.”
“We are doing all we can to provide support to them following the shocking news of the accidental death of their son.”
“We are also reaching out to his fellow students, friends, and staff here at Trinity supporting them during this distressing time. We are working closely with the Indian Embassy and An Garda Síochána in doing so.”
