Team Ireland jumped from two to four medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Tuesday night, September 3.

First up was Róisín Ní Riain, who swam her way to a Bronze medal in the SM13 200m Individual Medley event with a finishing time of 2:27.47.

This is Limerick native Róisín's second medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympics after winning Silver in the Women's S13 100m Backstroke event on Friday, which was also Team Ireland's first Paralympic medal this year.

Speaking on Tuesday after her medal-winning swim, Róisín said: "To be able to come out and finally get on the right side of a touch, I couldn’t be happier. I’m delighted with that."

She's not done yet - Róisín's set to compete in the SB13 100m Breaststroke event on Thursday.

About five minutes after Róisín won Bronze on Tuesday evening, Orla Comerford ran her way to a Bronze medal during the T13 100m event.

She finished her race in 11.94, just shy of a personal best, to win her first-ever Paralympic medal after representing Ireland at both Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020.

Speaking afterward, Orla said: “My first medal though, I have to be delighted and it’s so lovely to have so much Irish support here. It feels really like a home Games.

"Good God, if you told me back before Tokyo that I’d get a medal at this one I would have jumped for joy.

"I think I probably have high expectations for myself and I think that’s a good thing.”

Other Team Ireland athletes made a strong showing on Tuesday, though fell short of reaching the podium.

Michael Murphy finished ninth in the Para Equestrian Grade I Individual event, while Barry McClements finished eighth in the Para Swimming S9 100m Backstroke Final.

Dearbhaile Brady and Nicole Turner finished back to back - fifth and sixth places, respectively - in the Para Swimming S6 50m Fly final.
