A weather expert has warned of falling trees and power outages amid a number of weather warnings for the country throughout a ‘wet and windy Sunday.’
Cork and Waterford are currently under Status Orange rain warnings with Met Éireann forecasting heavy rain with ‘intense and thundery downpours.’
The warning is in place until 6pm Sunday evening with a Status Yellow warning also currently in place for Kerry, Limerick and Tipperary until 8pm on Sunday.
From 12 noon another Status Yellow rain warning comes into effect for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow and will run for a 12-hour period until midnight.
From 1pm, the warning is upgraded to Status Orange for Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford with Met Éireann confirming the warning is valid until midnight also.
The forecaster has warned of possible impacts including localised flooding; difficult travelling conditions and travel delays and some fallen branches and/or trees.
Carlow Weather’s Alan O'Reilly has been keeping followers up to date on what he has called ‘the storm with no name.’
A busy Atlantic at the moment and the storm with no name is the one that will bring us the wet and windy Sunday. #Isaac is still a Hurricane and has strengthened a little but thankfully its track is forecast to keep it well away from Ireland next week. pic.twitter.com/gdPuh0BHOR

Taking to X on Saturday, he said: ‘A busy Atlantic at the moment and the storm with no name is the one that will bring us the wet and windy Sunday.
‘#Isaac is still a Hurricane and has strengthened a little but thankfully its track is forecast to keep it well away from Ireland next week.’
Hurricane Isaac strengthened to a category 1 hurricane in the US on Saturday with Tropical Storm Joyce also making moves across the Atlantic but both are expected to steer clear of Ireland.
Mr O’Reilly followed up on Saturday evening to note that while ‘rain will be the biggest issue for many the wind will also be an issue.’
‘With strong gusts and leaves still on trees could lead to some falling trees and power outages,’ he warned, ‘The rain and wind combined will make for tricky driving conditions. The wind and rain will pass by Monday.’
