The Irish Government announced its St. Patrick's Day programme for 2025 today, Wednesday, February 12.
38 representatives of the State will "bring Ireland’s message" to more than 90 cities in 40 countries, Ireland's Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.
The programme, the DFA said, will see the Taoiseach, Tánaiste, and representatives of the State engage in programs to promote Ireland and Irish interests and values in the world.
"St Patrick’s Day offers a unique opportunity to promote Ireland’s interests around the world and to promote Ireland as a place to invest, visit, work or study," the DFA said.

The DFA said the overall message of St. Patrick's Day 2025 "will focus on the ambitions outlined in the Programme for Government, emphasising Ireland’s outlook and attractiveness as a small, open trading economy, with our economic success rooted in this openness and our willingness to build partnerships."
It continued: "Ministers will promote Irish investment overseas, international research and education collaborations, mutually beneficial partnerships between Irish and overseas companies and the successes and growth of overseas companies that have chosen Ireland as their base in Europe.
"The St Patrick’s Day programme offers an unparalleled opportunity to build relationships with key political and business leaders, decision makers, and cultural and academic partners; to communicate the consistent, principled and constructive approach that characterises our foreign policy; to celebrate Ireland’s contemporary and traditional arts, culture and heritage; and to highlight the achievements and impact of our Global Ireland strategy."
The announcement comes among discussion about Irish politicians engaging in Washington, DC this year. Like last year, there are calls for Irish politicians to boycott the annual events due to the US response in Gaza.
Ireland's People Before Profit party is calling for a boycott of the events, while Northern Ireland's SDLP said on Tuesday that they too would be boycotting St. Patrick's Day in Washington.
Complicating matters this year is speculation that the Trump administration could be 'scaling back' the St. Patrick's Day events as Republicans are reportedly "struggling to see what they are getting out" of them.
Still, ahead of Wednesday's announcements, the Irish government was reportedly planning a St. Patrick's Day "blitz" in the US to "reinforce diplomatic relations and trade ties."
On Wednesday, Taoiseach Micheál Martin told reporters that he fully expects to meet President Trump at St. Patrick's Day, telling RTÉ News that the visits are important "no matter who is the US President."
He added: "There is never actually a specific invitation. It just gets worked out between the two administrations. We're anticipating the tradition will be continued again."
Tánaiste Simon Harris told RTÉ News on Wednesday that comments that the Taoiseach should not meet the US President "go against Ireland's national interest."
"It's really important that he should, whoever he or she is, engages with the president of the day, whoever he or she is, and it's a really important asset for that country and for strengthening bilateral relations," Harris said.
