A young Irish woman was killed in a single-vehicle collision.

The woman has been named as 21-year-old Meaghan Miller.

Miller was reportedly in Canada completing a work placement on a farm as part of her animal science degree.

The third year University College Dublin student was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near the town of Maidstone, Saskatchewan.

A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs told the Irish Times it was "providing ongoing consular assistance" to Miller's family.
