Former (and possibly future?) First Daughter Chelsea Clinton snagged a prime front-row seat at the Edun fashion show in New York on Sunday evening. Edun is the African-based line of clothing founded by Bono and his wife Ali several years ago to promote fair trade and job creation on the continent, and Chelsea liked what she saw.
“I just have such tremendous respect for everything that Ali and Edun have created in their continued commitment to fabricating in Africa, which I think is so important,” Chelsea said.
“I think that with people like Ali and companies like Edun investing in Africa, it will not only help bring African-made products to American consumers but will also, ultimately, help African designers come to the United States.”
Chelsea’s date for the night was her hubby Marc Mezvinsky, but he was bumped to a second row seat as the chairs upfront were stuffed with the likes of actresses Lucy Liu and America Ferrera, models Petra Nemcova and Helena Christensen, Sting’s wife Trudie Styler and, last but certainly not least, Colin Farrell, who rocked a pair of Harry Potter-like specs.
Mezvinsky was also joined in the second row by Bono and Ali’s actress daughter Eve Hewson, who’s been spending time in New York filming The Knick, a new series for Cinemax about the city’s old Knickerbocker Hospital.
