"When I went there first I was expecting to see like a sea of redheads, and there weren't half as many as I'd hoped"

Ireland's reputation as the redhead capital of the world is unjustified, according to Oscar nominated actress (and natural ginger) Jessica Chastain.

Expecting to see red tops all over the place when she first visited Ireland, Jessica told the Sunday Independent last weekend she was shocked at the lack of familiar color.

"When I went there first I was expecting to see like a sea of redheads, and there weren't half as many as I'd hoped. I went to Dublin thinking I was going to feel at home, and I was still a minority!” she said.

Jessica is no stranger to Ireland.  She filmed Miss Julie in the North with Colin Farrell in 2013, and also took a trip to various parts of the Republic with her granny during her college days.

“In my freshman year my grandmother and I went around Ireland for two weeks,” she told The Irish Times in 2013. “We researched our family in Trinity College and saw Galway and the Cliffs of Moher. We rented a lovely cottage in Kinsale.”
