Oscar nominated Lady Bird star was a total sweetheart according to everyone she met on her weekend staycation in Ireland.
The red carpet awards season is over, and Lady Bird star Saoirse Ronan can exhale and relax. And that’s exactly what she did last weekend in Co. Derry, where she and a friend – possibly boyfriend? – took a guided tour of the city.
She booked the sightseeing escape with Martin McCrossan Tours, and not surprisingly Saoirse was a total sweetheart to all she met.
"She loved the tour and I met her afterwards. She was with a male friend, I think it was her boyfriend,” Charlene Blackburn from McCrossan told The Belfast Telegraph.

"He was from Scotland and she said she was showing him around. And she said that afterwards she was going to Sandinos Bar to watch the rugby. She said she had been in Derry a few times before and she wanted to show her friend how great it was. And obviously to illustrate how great it was she took him on one of our tours, which was brilliant.

“She was just so lovely. We chatted and laughed away. It was lovely to see her.”
Meanwhile, Saoirse’s actor dad Paul Ronan is hard at work in Dublin as he’s just joined the cast of the long-running Irish soap Fair City. He told the Irish press last week that he couldn’t be prouder of his only child’s burgeoning career.
"I was a bit disappointed for Saoirse when she lost out to Frances, although losing is the wrong word to use," he said.
"It's her third Oscar nomination, and that, to a lot of actors would be a dream come true. Each of the three times she was nominated a wonderful actress won the award, so I would never say she was robbed or anything like that.

"She is blessed to be in such amazing company really, and hey, she's only 23. The great thing about awards and being nominated is the potential work it may bring to you, actors love their job and the best award is more work, good work and experiences in a very competitive field. I'm proud of Saoirse for who she is, not for any award or her talent as an actor."
It won’t be long before Saoirse is back on screen. Look for her next film, The Seagull, which opens on May 11 and co-stars Annette Bening and Elisabeth Moss.
Variety describes the film as “a period piece set in the 1800s that follows the comically intertwining love affairs between family members and their visitors at their lakeside Russian estate.”
