Israel Katz, Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared a bizarre video on X on Thursday, May 23, the day after Ireland said it would be formally recognizing the State of Palestine.

"Ireland, if your goal was to reward terrorism by declaring support for a Palestinian state, you’ve achieved it,” Katz said in his post.

Tagging Taoiseach Simon Harris, Katz said "Hamas thanks you for your service.”

In his post, Katz included a short video, backed by Irish music, that opens with a graphic of Ireland's flag, followed by a clip of Irish dancers.

The video then proceeds to show footage of the Hamas attacks in Israel on October 7, before again showing Irish dancers.

Footage of the Hamas attacks is again shown before the video concludes with an Irish dancer.

Throughout the video, "HAMAS: THANKS IRELAND" is emblazoned on the top of the clip.

At the time of publication on Thursday, the post had been liked 2.1k times and viewed more than 592k times.

The video is in response to Ireland's announcement on Wednesday that it would be formally recognizing the State of Palestine.

The Irish Government said it made its announcement on the same day as Spain and Norway "following months of consultation with like-minded countries across Europe and the Middle East."

The Taoiseach said on Wednesday morning: "We had hoped to recognize Palestine as part of a two-state peace deal but instead we recognize Palestine to keep the hope of that two-state solution alive."

After the announcement on Wednesday, Katz posted on X that he had "issued a severe Démarche for the ambassadors of Spain, Ireland, and Norway in Israel following their governments' decision to award a gold medal to Hamas terrorists who kidnapped our daughters and burned infants.

"During the Démarche, the ambassadors will watch a video of the brutal and cruel kidnapping of our daughters by Hamas terrorists, to emphasize the distorted decision their governments have made."

On Wednesday evening, Taoiseach Simon Harris spoke with the President of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas.

In part, the Taoiseach told President Abbas that Hamas is a brutal terrorist organization and he utterly condemned the barbaric attack on Israel on October 7.

President Abbas said he seconded the Taoiseach’s statement that Israel had the right to exist in peace and security with its neighbors.
