Ms Dullard disappeared on November 9, 1995, with her last known whereabouts being when she told a friend she was going to take a lift from Moone, Co Kildare to her native Kilkenny after spending the evening in Dublin. She was 21 when she disappeared.

Following a fresh appeal on Saturday, the 29th anniversary of her disappearance, gardaí have said that they have arrested a man in his 50s, in connection with Ms Dullard’s disappearance and murder.

"Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of Josephine 'Jo Jo' Dullard have this morning arrested a male on suspicion of the murder of Jo Jo Dullard," a statement from gardaí said.

"The male, aged in his 50s, is currently detained under the provisions of section 4, Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in Co. Kildare."

In November 2020, on the 25th Anniversary of Jo Jo’s disappearance, Gardaí confirmed that her disappearance was now classified as a murder investigation, saying that they were satisfied that "serious harm came to Jo Jo" on or about the night of November 9, 1995.

The investigation has since progressed and nearly 800 recommendations have been identified.

These recommendations have informed and generated new lines of inquiry which have been actioned by the Investigation Team based at Naas Garda Station, under the direction of the Senior Investigating Officer, assisted by An Garda Síochána Serious Crime Review Team.
