Kay Sinclair will do the parachute jump on July 20, which is the 37th anniversary of the death of her son, Michael.

Sharing details of her fundraiser on GoFundMe, the Donegal woman confirmed she was doing the jump as part of Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland’s “Skydive For Life” campaign.

"Hi everyone,’ she wrote on the fundraiser page, "My name is Kay Sinclair, a 92-year-old resident of Donegal Town.

"On the 20th of July 2024, I plan to join the YSPI in their 'Skydive For Life' campaign and complete a parachute jump to raise funds for the charity."

Ms Sinclair added: "The 20th of July is a special date for me as it's the 37th anniversary of the passing of my son Michael and I’ll be doing the jump in his memory."

Ms Sinclair went on to share details of what the money from her fundraiser would go towards including enabling schools to provide comprehensive programmes for teachers and students and provision of specialist websites and resources for mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Other ways in which the money will help will be by going towards crisis services.

"Every euro counts and no amount is too small," Ms Sinclair said, "Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of young people across Ireland.

"Please consider donating today and sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Your support means the world to me and to the countless young lives we can save together."

To date, the fundraiser has raised €537 towards the €3,000 target, however, a further €11,223 has been raised on Ms Sinclair’s official Skydive For Life page smashing her €10,000 goal.
