Over 3,000 people wearing welly boots strutted their way towards breaking a world record this weekend in Killarney, Co. Kerry.
Nothing – especially not a little bit of rain – was going to hold them back.
The World Welly Run, organized by the Glenflesk GAA club, drew over 3,000 participants in an array of rain boots for a 1km walk.
The previous record of 1,976 was set last year by the people of Ketchikan, Alaska.
There was even a ‘Happy’ video to drum up excitement for the event. While we’ve definitely never seen Irish dancers, construction workers, groomsmen, or a tiny lamb grooving in wellies, the crew of very serious looking road bikers may take the cake:
