The Louth youngster is presumed dead after he was reported missing alongside his mother last month. It is believed that Kyran may have died up to two years ago.
A murder investigation has been launched which has resulted in a search operation being carried out at a home in Louth.
The house, garden and grounds adjoining the house will be searched with Gardaí also confirming that technical and forensic examinations will be carried out.
A statement from An Garda Síochána explained: "The purpose of these searches is to discover any evidence which might provide us with information as to Kyran’s current whereabouts or what has happened to Kyran."
Tulsa
A statement from the Child and Family Agency, TUSLA, confirmed that they have "continued to assist and work closely with the Gardaí, and in line with normal practice, all relevant information has been shared."
They said: "We can confirm that whilst Kyran was not in the care of Tusla, our services had engaged with both he and his family. In August 2024, we alerted An Garda Síochána in relation to a significant concern about Kyran.
"Since August, we have continued to assist and work closely with the Gardai, and in line with normal practice, all relevant information has been shared.
"We can also confirm that as appropriate a notification has been sent to The National Review Panel (NRP), whose responsibility is to independently review cases of serious incidents involving children in care or known to Tusla."
They added that an internal review had commenced into the engagements and interactions with Kyran and his family.
"We are conscious of the ongoing Garda investigation, and as such will not be commenting further at this time," the statement concluded.
"Anyone with information on this case should contact An Garda Síochána."
O'Gorman
Speaking on Monday, Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman confirmed that his department had asked Tusla to send the case to the NRP [National Review Panel].
"That’s the panel that looks at the death of any child who had links to the caring infrastructure of the State, that usually takes place at the end of an investigation," he explained.
A source said that the file on Kyran was "effectively closed" after Tusla was told his mother, Dayla Durnin, 24, had moved to the North.
Garda, now, however, suspect that the child was not with her when she went missing. Ms Durnin was later found in the UK without her son.
