Right wing radio pundit Michael Savage tore into Bill O’Reilly this weekend after the Fox host endorsed the Senate’s efforts to overhaul the country's immigration laws.
O'Reilly signaled his support for the reform bill last Thursday, hours after Sens. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) and Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) unveiled a border security amendment.
The new amendment to the bipartisan Gang of Eight's bill will see an additional $30 billion spent in manpower and technology into the Southern border.
Speaking on the O’Reilly factor he said, “It is time for the U.S.A. to pass immigration reform,” and that he hopes “this bill does become law.”
“It’s not perfect, but it’s the right thing to do,” O’Reilly said.
“The Republican Party has a lot to lose here. If it doesn’t compromise, many Hispanic voters will reject the GOP entirely, pretty much dooming the party in the future,” O’Reilly added.
In response political commentator Michael Savage said he found O’Reilly’s support of the bill disturbing.
“One of the stories I found last night that got me upset,” he said on the Savage Nation.
“I hope it’s still here, where’s the one on O’Reilly, the little leprechaun? Here: ‘No Spine Zone: O’Reilly Supports Amnesty Bill.’”
Savage continued to mock O'Reilly's sudden support of the Gang of Eight's immigration reform bill.
“I named it the ‘No Spine Zone’ a long time ago,” Savage said. “That’s why the big guy doesn’t ever want me on Fox. He banned me from Fox. He got mad that I called him a leprechaun. Can you blame him? Then he got mad that I called it the No Spine Zone. Can you blame him? Can you blame me?”
“I don’t mind that he has to make a buck,” Savage continued. “But why does he have to disguise himself for what he isn’t?”
