Aer Lingus has canceled 80 more flights, which were scheduled for the end of next week, amid a bitter dispute between pilots and management.

It brings the total number of flights cancelled to date near to 500 with 76 cancelled on Wednesday following on from nearly 400 which were canceled at the start of the week.

The latest cancellations are between Thursday, July 11 and Sunday, July 14, with Aer Lingus advising travelers that they will be contacted via SMS, email or travel agent.

The airline said: ‘The industrial action by the Irish Air Line Pilots Association (IALPA) continues to cause disruption for many of our customers. Unfortunately we must cancel additional flights from Thursday 11 July to Sunday 14 July.

‘If your flight has been canceled, we will contact you directly via SMS, email or through your travel agent to advise you or your options. These options include changing the date of your booking free of charge, applying for a voucher for future travel or a refund for the full value of your flight.’

They added that a full list of cancellations is available online.

‘Please note that Aer Lingus Regional flights and transatlantic flights to/from Manchester will continue to operate as scheduled. We fully understand the frustration you must be feeling right now,’ the statement added.

‘We will continue to communicate directly with impacted customers as soon as possible.’

It comes not long after Aer Lingus management and IALPA attended a formal hearing at the Labour Court on Wednesday. They are currently awaiting the court’s recommendation, which is not binding but is expected to put pressure on both sides to come to an agreement.

The pilots are in search of a 24% pay rise which they say takes into account inflation since their last wage increase in 2019.

To date, Aer Lingus have refused the large increase and have said they will increase wages by 12.25%.
