Dreaming of a white Christmas? New odds reveal which Irish spots are most likely to see snowfall on the big day.

For many, there’s nothing more magical than the idea of a white Christmas. A blanket of snow can transform any setting into a winter wonderland, and it’s the perfect way to inject some seasonal spirit into even the biggest of Scrooges.

Still, despite our raised hopes, Ireland doesn’t often treat us to heavy snow on December 25th. In fact, the last reported white Christmas in Ireland was almost 14 years ago in 2010.

But could our luck be about to change? Betway has revealed its latest odds for snow at Christmas, with the city of Dublin is most likely to see those festive flakes fall.

Dublin last saw snow on Christmas Day in 2010 during an extreme cold spell when temperatures hit -11 degrees Celsius and 27 cm of snow was measured at the Casement Aerodrome. This year, Betway has placed the odds of a white Christmas at 5/1 in the Irish capital.

Cork and Galway both have less chance of snow, with just 8/1 odds, while the western spot of Limerick has just 10/1 odds of seeing the white stuff.

Betway spokesperson, Mike Reading, commented: “Based on the latest weather forecasts, Dublin is showing the strongest likelihood of a white Christmas this year. With odds of 5/1, the Irish capital is leading the way in the race for festive snowfall, giving many the hope of a picture-perfect winter scene this holiday season.

“While Dublin leads the pack, other cities in Ireland have lower chances of snow. Cork and Galway have odds of 8/1 for snow, while Limerick has slightly longer odds at 10/1. Regardless of where the snow falls, we know that many across Ireland are hoping for that magical festive touch this Christmas."
